Azurefilm PLA and PETG Test

It continues with my filament tests from the company Azurefilm, which has kindly provided me with a role Transparent PETG and a small role Yellow PLA. Azurefilm is located in Slovenia and delivers to EU at really attractive prices!

The filament comes, as usual, in a vacuum-sealed package with silica packets. What strikes immediately is the somewhat “wobbly” coil on which the filament is rolled up. But even after several 1000 meters of printing there was no problem with the winding.

Small Note:
Azure film exchanges a whole kilo roll for the delivery of 10 empty Azurefilm rolls. I really think that’s a great attitude. Most of the Rolls are going directly to the garbage. More Info

Phil the 3rd. 🙂

If you’ve read the latest tests, you know what’s coming: My ever-popular Phil A Ment of Matterhackers -> Thingiverse: 2557603

Every Material and Color gets a Phil. On the Wood Filament, i thought it won’t last for a Phil, since I used nearly all of it for a project.

For the temperatures, ive always used the maximum values as indicated to get a good layer adhesion

Christmas is coming…

Since I still needed a small Christmas tree for the table, this was the best opportunity to unite all Samples in one Project.

Printing with Transparent Filament

Ok, transparent printing is definitely a science itself. The frustration level rises really fast here. My print was not 100% perfect, but this is not due to the material (see Phil). I already had Transparent Filament, which hasn’t got a Phil yet (and that must mean something). Therefore the Transparent PETG from Azurefilm is really great to work with.

Strongman PLA – the unbreakable?

My test base was a 50g filament sample of the Azurefilm so called “Strongman” PLA, which deserves its name due to its high strength. Unbreakable PLA? Lets see if that’s true.

What stands out immediately: The filament does not break when bending compared to normal PLA. At least sounds promising.

I printed the “snow cover” of my tree. I really like the milky color of the filament.

The strength I will test in an extra article and compare it with other filament types.

Das Standard PLA

Of course, there was also a small 300g role of normal PLA in the package. Here in yellow. Ok, it’s not my favorite color now, but to make beautiful multi-color prints, yellow should not be missing. The filament can be processed really well and clean. There were no big differences in tolerance or hue. The star was flawless and super printed in a nice rich yellow tone. I really can not fault it.

Final Result

Everything assembled, the result looks really great. All parts fit together perfectly and harmonize with each other. Only the “balls” I had to take from my filament sortiment of another manufacturer. Finally, a NodeMCU development board with a small Neopixel ring was installed to get the right Christmas spirit. The color is changed via Android app. (How you do this, i will explain in an extra tutorial)

I am really positively surprised by Azurefilm. Everything good i heared from them has been confirmed. Even the environment thought with exchangeable empty coils makes the manufacturer very sympathetic to me. This definitely will not have been my last time using this filament.
